  • What is a Rekey?
A Rekey to some may mean a change of lock. It happens when you want a new key to work your locks and you do not want anyone who has a copy of the old key to be able to get into your property. There are 2 ways of doing this. The first way, will be to replace the entire locking mechanism . Its straight forward but expensive way especially if there is nothing really wrong with your lock. The other way is to rekey your lock, which means to replace the pins in the key barrel to match it up with a new key so the old key will no longer function.
  • Can I rekey my house so that 1 key can work every lock ?
The answer to this is simple. If you can insert(Key does not have to turn) your existing key into every single lock in your house, then the answer is yes you can have 1 key to all the locks. Different Lock manufacturers usually have their own key profile, however some build their locks to follow a certain standard profile (e.g. LW4 or LW5 profile). So if you have locks from different manufacturers , you may find that their keys will not enter the keyways of the competitor's brand of lock. In this scenario, You wont be able to have 1 key to all the locks.

  • I'm locked out of my house, will you damage the lock trying to get me in?
We will usually try picking the lock to unlock the door. However, when picking may not work we will see if the lock can be bypass by other means.
